Are you a new parent? Having continuous long days and still have a lot more to go?, Recovering from an illness ? Is it that time of the month? There are many reasons why we feel very exhausted. While its perfectly fine to rest and take a break when you

need it, there are some days when you just need to pull through, with that additional cup of coffee or a good scream to carry on. Here are some ways to bring back that second gust of wind, to handle the rest of the day without letting the roof hit your head.
Hydrate and supplement
The first thing you often reach out to give you that boost is caffeine . Ah, what a spike of energy that brings to your life. Coffee can be very dehydrating though. How about some lemon water , a glass of ginger tea or some fresh coconut water. Give yourself a rest break of slowly sitting and sipping the beverage, rather than gulping it down and use that five to ten minutes of time for yourself.
Affirmation
I am truly a believer that the more you tell yourself you are tired, you get more tired . The brain does exactly what you tell it ,and constantly exclaiming that you are exhausted isn’t helping. Rather make your “rest time” or “replenish time” a non negotiable even if its ten minutes in the loo, just to snooze . Post that a cold water splash on your face, and you would feel as good as new.
Connect with greens
There is plenty of research on the benefits of being with nature on a regular basis. Not only does it improve cognitive behaviour walking in nature for even a few minutes can boost ones mood, reduce anxiety and seasonal depression .
(Lee, K.E., et al., Journal of Environmental Psychology, Vol. 42, No. 1, 2015) explains the experimental findings on how recuperative and impressive the healing powers of nature can be. Just spending 40 seconds looking at plants made people concentrate better and make fewer mistakes in mundane tasks.
Power naps
Sleeping well and deep during the night is the only way to prevent feeling tired in the long run. If you are constantly working and ticking off to do lists, schedule power nap time of 15 mins into your workday. Remember the time when your kids were forced to sleep in school. Some people still need it to efficiently perform.
Get some movement in
It may sound counter productive that ,I am recommending you to move when you are already tired. Exercising and regular movement tends to energises you, the only difference is to find out what kind of movement and exercise works for you at a every point in your life. I am not saying a 5 mile marathon but maybe a quick 5 minute game of hide and seek with your toddler or a walk in the park might just get the blood circulating in your body after a long day in front of a computer. Short on time; dance it out while making a meal, a few leg rises in between meetings or walk around while taking a call.
